At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we are committed to the faith formation of our youth in an enriching learning environment. The following core elements form the foundation and strength of the program.
Teaching Ministry Opportunity
Consider volunteering your time to teach Faith Formation classes. Volunteer teachers are trained, and classes enrich students and teachers alike, the children truly value their teachers! Contact Sr. Rosalie Cullen, Director of Religious Education to discuss teaching these wonderful children!
Scripture by Heart
Praying with Scripture is at the heart of our Christian education. The Word of God is an inspiration for conducting our daily lives regardless of our age. As with all Scripture by Heart, our main goal is to have your children praying these verses with you, at home and on their own. We also hope that you will discuss the meaning and importance of Scripture and how to relate God’s Word in Scripture to everyday living. When Scripture is prayed, studied, and repeated daily, we begin to know it in our hearts.
Each Sunday introduce the Bible verse and encourage your children to “learn the passage by heart”.
Click the following word of the month to view the Bible verses your child is learning as a student in the Scripture by Heart Program.

Program Fees
The fees for children attending the elementary and junior high Faith Formation Programs are $85 for one child, $115 for two children, and $125 for a family having three or more children. Please contact Sr. Rosalie if you are unable to pay the tuition. It is far more important that your children learn about their faith, and arrangements may be made to assist your family.

In Case of an Earthquake or any Disaster event:
Dear Parents,
In the Gospels, Jesus tells the crowd a parable about a farmer who scatters seeds.
"Those seeds sown on good soil are the ones who listen to the word of God and take it to heart" Mark 4:19
"As for the seeds that fall on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have the work, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit through perseverance." Luke 8:15
As parents, you are 'farmers' who care for the seeds sown by our loving God. You have the honor and responsibility to provide good soil for your children to grow and nourish their faith. You fertilize what God has sown by teaching your children how to pray and sharing Scripture and Tradition with them, by participating and explaining the Mass. Modeling simple acts of kindness, generosity, and honesty also help to plant the see of God's kingdom in your children's hearts.
Sincerely,
Sister Rosalie
